To Ascertain Uncertainly

My name is Gil Corral, thanks for taking the time to check out my paintings.  Some of this work came to fruition during a time in my life when I have had great doubt about the importance of art.  Not so much a question as to what my art may illustrate, but as to the actual act of doing it. Aside from the rapid and continuous changes going on in my life, the complexities and general tenor of our time has had a dragging effect on me getting into the studio.

I have asked myself where the value of placing pigment on a canvas is during a time of war, mistrust and general acceleration.  Ironically, it is because of these questions and struggles that I found the need to paint.  It is an act that, in my opinion, is the antithesis of many characteristics I have observed in current society.
